Summer Romance

December 29, 2016

There’s nothing quite like a warm, sunny day on the beach, snuggled in the arms of the one you love. Sometimes “the portrait” isn’t the one where you are both looking at the camera and smiling. Sometimes its the portrait that takes you back to a specific moment in time, that brings back that feeling of butterflies you once felt. Amanda captured this sweet couple so well during their stay in Rosemary Beach.

There are so many reasons vacation is the best time to have your family portraits made! Below I’m going to highlight just a few.

No stress…

Planning your color palate and dreaming of that portrait over your mantle is the fun part. It’s when real life sets in that things get stressful. Between work, sports and children’s activities, the day to day hustle and bustle of life, family portraits are just one more thing to add to the list of “to do”. On vacation it’s the opposite! Everyone is together, off from work, there are no sports practices to make, no ballet recitals to work around. Just you and your family, all together, at your most relaxed.

This is especially true for large and extended families. When is the last time your entire family had a portrait made? Your beach vacation in Florida, Alabama, or Mississippi is the perfect opportunity!

Be ahead of the game…

If you haven’t had your portraits made during the summer, around the fall, you will realize you’ve got to figure out portraits for your Christmas or Holiday Cards. If you’ve had your portraits made while on your beach vacation, you’ve got it taken care of! Whether we have already designed a beautiful custom card for you or you are planning to DIY with the digital portraits you’ve purchased from your session, there will be no added stress during an already stressful time.

You’ve also got gifts taken care of. What better gift for grandma and grandpa than a gorgeous portrait of their grandchildren, or maybe the entire family? We can even package it beautifully for you so all you need to do it present it!

It’s different…

Our high school senior clients especially love this factor. You can have what everyone else in your hometown, may not! Can you imagine a better backdrop than fluffy white sand paired with the crystal clear emerald water of the Gulf of Mexico? Add in an amazing sunset and your family…you’ve found perfection!

These are just a few reasons why having your family, senior or children’s portraits made while on your beach vacation is such a fabulous option! So if you are vacationing on the beach, whether 30a, Mexico Beach, Destin, Pensacola, Orange Beach, Dauphin Island, or Biloxi, we are your Beach Portrait Artists and we are there to help you every step of the way!

June weddings… we love June weddings… we love them more when they are indoors though. lol It gets ridiculously hot here on the Florida and Alabama coastline during the summer! Ladonna commissioned us to photograph her June church wedding near Chipley, Florida. When she said she would also like an engagement session, I was thrilled! Engagement sessions are a perfect way for us to get to know each other before the wedding. For this engagement session, we traveled to downtown Chipley, Florida. It was  perfectly clouded day and we had the train depot and downtown all to ourselves. Hope you enjoy a peek at Tim & Ladonna’s engagement session. We look forward to their wedding this summer!

In 2011 I was blessed to meet an adorable couple, Chad & Kristin. I was even more blessed to photograph their engagement session in downtown Panama City…

We discovered at the wedding that Chad actually graduated High School with my oldest brother… small world Panama City is!

Needless to say when I heard Chad & Kristin were expecting their first baby I was elated for them! When they asked me to photograph the birth of their first baby, I was overwhelmingly honored. It’s something special to be invited into such a beautiful and intimate time of transition from a couple of 2 to a family of 3.

They have allowed me to share a little peek of that special day with you. Below you can view the slideshow of the birth of Baby Jameson. No worries, it’s very tasteful  and there is nothing graphic in the slideshow so feel free to watch with the kiddos around. 🙂

Are you a ‘Pinner’ ?

February 10, 2014

Do you just love finding new recipes, outfit ideas, cleaning solutions and organizational options in one place? A place that will hold onto those things for you so you don’t have to bookmark them or hope you can remember where you saw them. That is exactly what Pinterest does for you! Though I am sure you already knew that and are already on Pinterest, unless you’ve been living on a deserted island somewhere. If that’s the case, then, hey… now you know!

What you might not know is… we are on Pinterest too! All you have to do is search for Knowles Portrait Design on the main Pinterest page. We have ‘what to wear’ ideas, highlights of places we love to visit for sessions, funny things, even recipes our family has tried that were thought were awesome!

One more bonus is that you can pin our portraits featured on the blog, right here from the blog! Simply hover over any image and a ‘Pin’ button will appear. So we make it easy to share what we love with you and what you love with everyone else! We hope to see you over there. In the meantime…HAPPY PINNING!

At Knowles Portrait Design, it’s all about the experience. From planning your portrait session until your portraits are displayed on your walls, we want every step to be a fun and enjoyable event! With that in mind, we offer a little something extra that’s include with our Artist’s Signature session… an in person ordering session. Those who haven’t worked with us before or have yet to experience custom photography may not know what this is. We thought we would take a few minutes and define it in a little more detail.

What is in person ordering?

An in-person ordering session, sometimes called ‘in person proofing’ or ‘view & order session’ is an extra-special experience and added value just for you. Just a few days following your portrait session, we return to you at your home, condo or beach house for you to view and order your portraits. We will plug directly into your HDTV and present your portraits in actual size! We will bring sample portrait sizes, products and offerings. You can touch and see, in person, the things we offer.

What does this mean for me?

This means we are there to help you every step of the way, to answer any questions you might have. We can go over all of your options to get you exactly what you want in the very best value possible.

I’m only in town for a few days, can I still have an ordering session during my stay?

Absolutely! For our visiting clients we offer the ordering session the day following your portrait session. In certain circumstances it is sometimes possible to have your ordering session later the same day.

Our current and returning clients LOVE this extra touch during their custom experience with us. We love seeing their faces as they view their portraits for the first time!

No, it’s not thanksgiving but we think thankfulness should be a year round thing. Not just when you get together over turkey and football.  Looking back over the past 7 years in business we have had the opportunity to work with some amazing people. Beautiful families from all over the country and even some from other parts of the world. Gorgeous weddings with beaming brides so in love that it brought tears to our eyes. Precious newborn babies so innocent and snuggley. We have even been able to experience the birth of some of those adorable babies. We are so blessed! We are so grateful to be able to connect with our clients on a level where they become our friends and feel like our family. We love being a part of your lives and watching your families grow.

So to all our past, current and future clients we say, “Thank you!”. Thank you for letting us be your family photographers during the most important days in your lives. Thank you for choosing us to preserve those memories your children and grandchildren can look back on for years to come. Each and every one of you has touched our lives and for that, we thank you. We can’t wait to be a part of the next exciting chapter in the book that is your life.

Well, since the Howell’s are somewhat newlyweds, I wouldn’t call it puppy love. However, when you add in Mickey, their new pup… I’d say it was puppy love all around. We started with some fun playful shots during their couples session in Destin, Florida and ended up…in the water! Yep and it was a blast!

2013 was a fabulous year for us and our clients. We not only expanded into Alabama to better serve our clients there, we also added the option of two associate photographers to the staff in Florida to better serve our Florida clients & vacationers.

As we start into 2014, we are excited to be sharing our new look and new name for you to enjoy, along with the same great experience, gorgeous portraiture and ‘us’ you’ve come to know and love…just BETTER!

We will be making changes to reflect the new name throughout our websites and social media in the coming weeks. Looking forward to another amazing year with you!

Dani booked their couples session during their vacation on the beach. The day before our session I got an email from Cory saying he would like to surprise Dani… with a ring! So we planned out the surprise proposal and he popped the question. I think we got the perfect reaction to his question! 🙂
